New in 2025! Boston Postpartum Doula Services

After 12 years as a Certified Professional Midwife and 16 years as a birth doula, I’m leaning into postpartum doula and Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) work now that I have my own little one. It’s with this background that I aim to support new families through the early weeks of parenthood. These early weeks are wild, hard, joyful, sleepless, and beatiful.

A postpartum doula guides and supports these early days through practical advice and education, physical support, and a listening ear. I am here to support the whole family, whatever that looks like. I am here to help you find your way as parents, without judgement, and know that each family has its own unique needs.

As a Certified Postpartum Doula, I will qualify for most insurance reimbursements if there is doula benefits.

Sliding scale fee: $50-$100/hr

My postpartum doula support includes, but is not limited to:

  • Infant feeding/nursing
  • Understanding normal newborn behaviors, sleep, and development
  • Birth processing
  • Understanding postpartum healing and how to support the body's transition
  • Dishes! And household and baby laundry
  • Light tidying
  • Allowing parents uninterrupted sleep by watching over baby
  • Sibling transitions
  • Baby wearing
  • A listening ear to anything that comes up
and so much more!

I often take on postpartum clients with my long-time doula partner, Tara Kenny. Tara is also available as a birth doula. When we partner, we will do a consultation all together.

Frequently Asked Questions about Postpartum Doula Support:

"Susanna was an incredible part of our postpartum support team. She brought calm and purposefulness and a friendly face every time she arrived at our house. She showed up and rolled with whatever needed to happen that day with gusto, whether it was soothing a grumpy newborn, folding laundry, troubleshooting breastfeeding, or making sure the parents were fed and watered. After a very scary emergency c-section, it was wonderful to have Susanna as a listening ear on those days when we needed to process everything that had happened. We hired her for her expertise in birth and postpartum but will also remember our time with her as a delightful person we enjoyed having in our home. We would hire her again in a heartbeat if we planned to have another baby!"
